Fonemio is a reading support app for children and families. This policy applies to parents/guardians, child profiles, and other users of our website and app.

A) Account and profile information

• Name and email address (for parent/guardian account)
• Login provider details (for example Google, Facebook, email/password)
• Child profile information you provide (such as first name/nickname, age, and reading settings)

B) App usage and learning data

• Reading session progress
• Story completion and activity history
• Word-level performance and assessment scores
• Settings and preferences

C) Audio and speech processing

When reading features are used, speech/audio is processed to provide real-time reading and pronunciation feedback.

• We do not store raw voice recordings from reading sessions.
• Audio is used in real time for speech/phoneme assessment and then discarded.
• We may store derived results (for example word accuracy, timing, and progress metrics) to provide reporting and improve learning outcomes.

D) Technical/device data

• IP address, browser/device type, operating system
• Basic log and diagnostic data for reliability, security, and troubleshooting

• Create and manage accounts
• Deliver app features (reading, assessment, progress tracking)
• Personalize the experience by profile and reading level
• Provide parent reporting and insights
• Maintain security and prevent abuse
• Improve app performance and functionality
• Comply with legal obligations

Depending on your location, we process personal data based on consent, contract, legitimate interests, and legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information.

We may share data with trusted service providers (for example authentication, hosting, database, speech processing, analytics, and infrastructure vendors) solely as needed to operate Fonemio.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Fonemio is designed for children to use with parent/guardian involvement. Parents/guardians are responsible for creating and managing child profiles.

If you believe a child’s information was submitted improperly, contact us and we will review and take appropriate action.

We retain information only as long as needed to provide the service, maintain account/progress features, and satisfy legal, security, and compliance requirements. When no longer needed, data is deleted or anonymized.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect data appropriately.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or request portability of personal data.

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.
